Groupthink focuses on people’s inability to fully engage with an idea that is contrary to the main thrust of the organizational direction.

The Abilene Paradox, on the other hand, focuses on what keeps legitimate disagreement held by individual members (even large numbers of them) from surfacing to where the group can effectively deal with it.
