Adaptation Reflex

p.310: If, during major change, loss of control is inevitable but control is essential to success, it becomes vital to have some means available for regaining balance each time it is disrupted.  The vehicle we humans use to recover our lost control is the process of adaptation.  This is our retort to the surprises in life and it is called the adaptation reflex.

p.311: We are genetically programmed to seek uniformity between our expectations and perceptions.  This search for consistency is so strong because of our inborn proclivity for stable surroundings with minimal confusion and ambiguity.

p.317 (avoidance): Our species has never confused logic with what we are most comfortable doing. Whenever there is a choice between rational behavior and what would calm our fears and grant us serenity, we will consistently opt for emotional solace rather than cerebral integrity.

COMPANY PROFILE

Primary Goals sits at the intersection of three core ideas about communication:
  • Leaders create vision by communicating a compelling future to their teams.
  • Teams create success based on how effectively the communicate and coordinate with each other.
  • Entrepreneurial ventures are successful only when they communicate value to people with a concern that the business can take care of
In all cases, it’s about Conversations for Committed Results.  That’s our Primary Goal.
